Dr. Frederick J. Fletcher is a lifelong resident of the Capital District. He graduated from Albany Medical College in 1986. At Albany Medical Center Hospital he completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery during which he developed a special interest in total hip and knee replacements. He further refined his skills in this area by completing a Fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 1992.

After his fellowship, Dr. Fletcher began his practice of Orthopaedic Surgery in Albany and is currently on the staff of most of the hospitals in the Albany and Troy area. He is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners since 1987. He has been Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery since 1994 and was re-certified for an additional ten years in 2013. He has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons since February 1996. Dr. Fletcher is also a member of the Eastern Orthopaedic Society since 1997. Dr. Fletcher has published several articles on Amputations and Leg Reconstruction. He has given several lectures at national orthopaedic meetings about total hip and knee replacement.

Dr. Fletcher is having tremendous success performing the Direct Anterior Hip Replacement, a minimally invasive approach using the HANA table. This approach often results in less pain and quicker recovery after hip replacement surgery.

Dr. Fletcher is also the only physician in the Albany area using ConforMIS custom total and partial knee implants. His patients receive implants that are specifically made for them and their unique anatomy.

Dr. Fletcher is the Medical Director of the Total Joint Replacement Center at St. Peter’s Hospital. He currently serves on the Physician Council at St. Peter’s Hospital and the Executive Committee of OrthoNY. Dr. Fletcher was named a top physician in the category of Orthopedics as Capital Region’s Top Doctors 2015.
