Went to see Dr Parikh for persistent sciatica and spinal stenosis. This after 4 weeks of 8 weeks of scheduled PT. We decided to continue the PT (which had helped some) and I got a script for Celebrex. Might be a game changer. Follow up if needed. Very satisfied. Excellent doctor.

Frequently Asked Questions

What imaging services are available at OrthoNY Schenectady?

Our Schenectady Imaging Center offers both MRI (including contrast-enhanced exams) and digital X-ray imaging tailored to orthopedic care. MRI scans provide detailed views of soft tissues such as ligaments, tendons, discs, and cartilage. Contrast-enhanced MRI exams offer even greater clarity when evaluating certain conditions or post-surgical areas. X-rays capture high-resolution images of bones and joints, used to identify fractures, arthritis, and structural alignment. We perform scans for the spine, hip, knee, shoulder, hand, foot, and post-operative follow-ups.

Why are both MRI and X-rays important for orthopedic care?

Each modality offers unique value. X-rays reveal bone fractures, arthritis, and structural alignment. MRI provides detailed images of soft tissues, such as ligaments, cartilage, and discs, allowing for a more comprehensive diagnosis when used together.

How do I prepare for my imaging appointment?

Most imaging exams require minimal preparation. Wear comfortable, metal-free clothing and leave jewelry at home. For X-rays, you may be asked to remove items that obscure the area. MRI patients should notify staff of any implants or devices. You can usually eat and drink normally prior to the appointment.

What happens during an MRI or X-ray at this location?

X-rays are quick, usually completed within minutes. MRI exams last 20 to 45 minutes, depending on the scan. You’ll lie still on a padded table; ear protection is provided due to scanner noise. Our technologists guide you through the entire process.

How and when will I get my imaging results?

Your scans are reviewed by a board-certified radiologist and a full report is typically sent to your referring provider within 24 to 48 hours. If you are an OrthoNY patient, your physician will review the findings at your next visit.

Are MRI and X-ray services covered by insurance?

Yes. We accept most major health plans, including Medicare and workers’ compensation. Our team verifies coverage and obtains any required authorizations. We also offer transparent pricing and payment options for self-pay patients.
