About Dr. Scordino
Dr. Scordino completed a fellowship in the upper extremity at Upstate Medical University. She specializes in treatment of conditions of the hand, elbow and shoulder including shoulder arthroscopy and total shoulder replacements. Dr. Scordino sees patients in the Clifton Park and Schenectady offices. She is also a board member for the OrthoNY Surgical Suites at 16 Maxwell Drive in Clifton Park.
Laura Scordino, M.D. specializes in hand, shoulder and upper extremity surgery. Dr. Scordino began her education at Binghamton University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology. She went on to receive her Doctorate of Medicine at the Upstate Medical University in Syracuse in 2009. She graduated magna cum laude and was selected as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Scordino then went on to complete her residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Connecticut in 2014.
Following residency, she continued her surgical training by completing a surgical subspecialty fellowship focusing on hand, shoulder and upper extremity surgery at Upstate Medical University in 2015. While in fellowship Dr. Scordino was trained in state of the art techniques in all aspects of surgery of the hand and wrist, elbow, shoulder arthroscopy, total and reverse total shoulder arthroplasty, as well as the use of micro-vascular surgery throughout the body. Dr. Scordino has also had experience taking care of athletes at the University of Connecticut and Syracuse University throughout residency and fellowship and was a Division I basketball player herself.
Dr. Scordino is the author of over a dozen orthopedic textbook chapters, technique articles, and manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. She has presented her research at several orthopedic conferences throughout the country.
Dr. Scordino has a particular interest in treatment of tendon, nerve, and arthritic conditions of the hand and wrist. She also has special interest in care of patients with degenerative and traumatic conditions of the elbow and shoulder treated with arthroscopy or joint replacement. Dr. Scordino believes in a step-wise approach to patient care with an emphasis on open communication and shared decision-making.
