Board-certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Coseo specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery and has experience in larger spinal deformity corrections, and revision cervical and lumbar spine surgery.

Mark P. Coseo, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a clinical focus in adult and pediatric spine surgery, and general orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Coseo is an upstate New York native who earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in his fourth year of medical school. Dr. Coseo then completed his orthopedic surgery internship and residency at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, the pride of Navy Medicine. He went on to receive advanced training in adult and pediatric spine surgery at the Norton Leatherman Spine Center in Louisville, Kentucky, one of the most prestigious neurosurgical and orthopedic spine fellowships in the country.

A decorated U.S. Navy Veteran, Dr. Coseo has extensive wartime field surgery and tertiary medical center experience. He has deployed to combat zones in both Afghanistan and Iraq, performing life and limb-saving resuscitation and damage-control surgeries on US and Coalition servicemembers, host-nation forces, and civilians. Dr. Coseo most recently served as the head of the Brain and Spine Center at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia. He was also a member of the academic teaching faculty for the orthopedic surgery residency program, and the spine consultant for Naval Special Warfare Development Group and Group Two. He has published original research and book chapters on various topics in spine surgery and combat-related orthopedic injuries.

Dr. Coseo specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery, including motion-preserving and disc replacement surgery. He also has extensive experience in larger spinal deformity corrections, and revision cervical and lumbar spine surgery. He is excited to join the OrthoNY team, providing evidence-based, multi-disciplinary spine care for the Capital Region.
