About Dr. Emr

Dr. Kevin Emr is dual board-certified in Anesthesiology and Interventional Pain Medicine specializing in minimally invasive treatment of the source of pain. Dr. Emr has practiced in the Capital District since 2015.  He is a member of the spine service at OrthoNY, delivering care through minimally invasive procedures to patients seeking to avoid surgery or who are deemed not to be surgical candidates.

Dr. Kevin Emr grew up in San Diego, CA, and traveled east for college at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in the field of Neurobiology and Biomedical Engineering.  Dr. Emr earned his medical degree from the SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, and then completed residency in Anesthesiology at Albany Medical Center. He continued his training with a sought-after fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. There he was trained in cutting-edge minimally invasive image-guided treatments of spine, nerve, and joint pain.  Following fellowship, he served as an Attending Physician and Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at Albany Medical Center.

Dr. Emr’s areas of expertise include spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, ultrasound-guided nerve blocks, radio-frequency ablation, and image-guided procedures for the non-surgical management of shoulder, knee, hip, neck, mid-back, and low back pain. In addition to pain management, Dr. Emr enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, hiking, and camping in the Adirondacks.

He is an active member of the American Society of Anesthesia, American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, Spine Interventional Society, and American Medical Association.
