About Dr. Dixon
Dr. David Dixon started his practice with Northeast Orthopedics in August of 2001. He is an orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty training in foot and ankle surgery and is board-certified in orthopedic surgery. Raised in Maine, Dr. Dixon earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. He graduated from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington, Vermont in 1995 where he earned his Medical Degree.
From Vermont, Dr. Dixon completed his Orthopedic Surgery internship and residency in Detroit, Michigan in 2000. He then completed an AO Fellowship in Switzerland dealing with techniques in Orthopedic trauma surgery and also completed a special traveling fellowship in foot and ankle surgery in Seattle, Washington at Harborview Medical Center working with Sigrard T. Hansen, MD. From there, he completed a year of formal foot and ankle subspecialty work at the Michigan International Foot and Ankle Center in Pontiac, Michigan, working with fellowship director Arthur Manoli, II, MD. He immediately joined Northeast Orthopedics to begin his practice in Orthopedics with a special interest in Foot and Ankle Surgery.
He is an active member of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society and the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons.
Dr. Dixon is frequently commended for his world class expertise in foot and ankle care. He was awarded the “Physician of the Year” award in 2007 from the nurses at Albany Memorial Hospital. In 2014, he was honored with the “Founder’s Award” from the Northeast Health Foundation for his work at Albany Memorial Hospital. He is currently the Chief of Orthopedics at Albany Memorial.
In 2025, he received designation by Newsweek as one of America’s Leading Doctors for Foot & Ankle Surgery. The top 30 doctors across the nation were recognized in each specialty and Dr. Dixon is honored to be awarded this designation.

Dr. Dixon is the author of several peer-reviewed orthopedic journal articles and has authored a textbook chapter in “Techniques of Foot and Ankle Surgery.”
