Dr. Richard L. Katz has been practicing orthopedic surgery in the Capital District since 1991. A native of Montreal, Quebec, Dr. Katz received his undergraduate degree from Vanier College and attended medical school at McGill University, followed by an internship at the Jewish General Hospital. After doing a residency at the Montreal General Hospital in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Katz did a fellowship in London Ontario specializing in both primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery.
Dr. Katz is trained in robotic surgery for knee replacement and uses a new innovative, less invasive approach to hip replacement surgery called the superior approach.
He is a member of the American Association of Hip & Knee Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and sits on the Board of the New York State Society of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Executive Woods Ambulatory Surgery Center.
Dr. Katz works out of the Albany, Latham and Clifton Park offices and performs outpatient surgery at two of OrthoNY’s ambulatory surgery centers.
