How are chronic conditions like arthritis treated across specialties?
Arthritis, which is inflammation of a joint, can affect the hips, knees, shoulders, hands, elbows, or ankles, and can be diagnosed and treated by orthopedic providers. Depending on the location and severity of your arthritis, your surgeon may recommend noninvasive treatments first, including medications and joint injections that can relieve pain for weeks or months.
