Having been brought up in the Capital Region, Dr. Murtaza spent the majority of his training close to home. He graduated undergrad cum laude from SUNY Geneseo with a major in biology and theatre. He then pursued his medical degree at Upstate Medical University, after which he matched at Albany Medical College for his orthopedic residency training. He subsequently trained at the world-renowned orthopedic center for adult reconstructive surgery at NYU Langone Hospitals. Following his year-long fellowship, Dr. Murtaza returned to Albany, NY to serve the community where he grew up.

In his free time, Dr. Murtaza enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.
