OrthoNY Presents Golfer with Hole-in-One Prize

Golf tournament highlighted by $10,000 winner

(SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY) – OrthoNY hosted the 14th Annual “Best Foot Forward” Golf Invitational at Brookhaven Golf Course in Porters Corners in late September. Close to 100 golfers participated, all OrthoNY joint replacement patients.

The unique tournament is free for invited golfers and celebrates their successful recovery from joint replacement surgery. Every year, prizes are awarded to the winning foursomes, and for the longest drive and closest-to-the-pin, but this is the first time the event saw a hole-in-one winner. After a month-long follow-up to confirm his winning swing, OrthoNY presented Michael Horrigan with a $10,000 check, thanks to insurance provided by Hole-in-One USA. (Photo attached.)

Horrigan was also part of the winning foursome on the front nine. His teammates were Bob Chehowski, Ernie Hoover, and Dan Tallman. On the back nine, the winners were Dr. Mary Espisito, Dan Fields, Dr. Joseph LaRosa and John Quattrachi.

“We started the ‘Best Foot Forward’ with just 27 golfers in 2001,” states tournament coordinator Regina Colaes, OrthoNY’s director of corporate compliance and provider recruitment. “Not only has it grown with the number of joint replacements we see, it has become a popular event because of the camaraderie. Complete strangers, with seemingly nothing in common other than a joint replacement, have become good friends because of this tournament, and beyond it. Everyone in attendance was thrilled to applaud Mike’s hole-in-one.”

CEO Alan Okun commented, “OrthoNY is pleased to host this special golf outing for joint replacement patients. It’s the ultimate example of how we are Saving Lifestyles, enabling people to recover and return to the activities they love.”
